On February 1, the WPAG Young Artists had fun creating “critters” from chaos! Students learned that color is not as important as shape in trying to convey an idea in a painting.
Starting with a prepared canvas, the students worked with sponges and brushes to create a ‘chaos’ background of three to four complementary colors. Using chalk for line work, the shape of an animal was added to the chaos background, and then the children used a neutral color to paint the negative space around the animal. Finally, details were added with black markers and white paint pens. The result? Chaos critters! (See photos below.)
Our next workshop is Saturday, March 7. Contact email@example.com to register your young artist.
