Sunday, February 9, 2020 New Port Richey, Florida — The West Pasco Art Guild hosted an invitational art show featuring works by artists from Tampa, Pasco, and Pinellas counties. Lionel Sanchez took top honors with his watercolor entitled “Tarpon Springs Boats.”
Second place was awarded to Gloria Bucher for her watercolor “Lizzie in the Butterfly House.” Carol Spicuglia grabbed third place with her “Vintage Post” oil painting. Three merit awards were presented to Lexi Kust for “Let’s Play,” Doreen Davis for “Big Basin Waterfall,” and Vana Meyers for “Lemons and Blue Bowl.”
Judging was done by renown artist, Joye Moon, NWS, who traveled here from Oshkosk Wisconsin to teach a sold out watercolor workshop at the Guild. Says Moon of Lionel’s piece, “Fresh and lively. I enjoyed the spontaneous brush strokes that give the painting movement, which is difficult to capture!”
More than $500 in prizes was awarded to the winners. The sponsors of the event were Jerry’s Artarama (jerrysartarama.com), Blick Art Materials (Dickblick.com), and Cabelo Hair & Nail Lounge in Trinity.
Christine Cooke organized the event saying, “We had great attendance and participation from artists throughout the Tampa area who never displayed with us before.” She added, “We are also grateful to everyone who donated original art as part of our very successful fund raiser.”
