Tricia Tayler’s painting, “Picasso”, was chosen to be a part of the Eight Annual Celebration of the Arts sponsored by Jeff and Penny Vinik, owners of the Tampa Bay lightning hockey team. There were 525 entries with only 41 selected, representing the number of the Lightening’s home games.
Mrs. Vinik, along with representatives from the Tampa Bay Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts of St. Pete, the Ringling Museum of Art, and the Dali Museum served as jurors to select the winning art. The contest included the following awards/rewards: The Top Three Artists Overall received $1,000 each, the Honorable Mentions received $250 each, and the Top Three Youth Artists received $250 each.
Tricia’s painting was accepted as one of the 41 to be a part of the Celebration of the Arts Exhibit at Amalie Arena. She also won a $250 award as an Honorable Mention.
The paintings chosen will hang at the Arena for a year, with approximately 1.5 million people expected to view them. The intent of the Celebration of Arts is to showcase the tremendous talent of local artists, and the art selected is for sale with all of the proceeds going directly to the artists.
