I was membership chairperson for 3 years about 10 years ago, until my former husband became terminally ill. I also taught watercolor classes at Michael’s for six years, two of which I worked in custom framing. I currently teach art in our home and have done so for ten years.
I love and appreciate this Art Guild and its wonderful members. I am thrilled to see all the new faces in the studio and look forward to getting to know you better! I love the challenge that we give to each other in our monthly competitions. I love the demo artists that share their knowledge with our members at our monthly meetings. I am so grateful for our incredible library that gives us mini workshops in our own homes. I love that our Guild is taking steps to increase the variety of classes and am looking forward to the portrait workshop that I will be teaching in March.
I am a positive, encouraging person and feel that I can be a great asset to our Board. I ask for your vote and thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Darla Nolan

My background is in education. I taught high school English and public speaking in Ohio and Maine for 20 years. After moving to Florida, I was hired by a small company in Dunedin that produced catalogs for the promotional products industry. I was hired as their head copywriter; a position I held for 17 years until a stroke forced me to stop work. After a long recovery a friend knew I needed something to keep me occupied and she got me started with watercolor. I came upon our guild quite by accident one day and stopped in. The people in that Tuesday morning class were so nice that I decided to give it a try. That has been close to 5 years ago now and it has become an important part of my life.
The Guild is undergoing many changes now and I would love to help by serving on their board. I think it is good to see so many new members and want to encourage our growth. The addition of so many new classes dealing with artistic crafts is certainly exciting and of interest to a great many members. I am also extremely concerned that we not lose site of the fine arts of oil, acrylic and watercolor painting which should always be our focus.
