WPAG member Lionel Sanchez, CWS, GCWS, MWS*, gave a wonderful demonstration, painting a New Mexico building, after the March monthly meeting. He developed a watercolor painting from drawing to finished painting.
Lionel likes to stretch his paper and paint on an easel because it allows a better flow of paints on the paper. He starts with a sketch and value study before putting anything on paper and reminds us to be aware of vanishing points.
His progress through the painting is shown in the following photos. [Click on the first then use the arrows or click on the Next button.]
Favorite paints: Winsor Newton
Great dark: Fr. ultramarine blue and burnt umber
